Veteran race car driver and business executive, Ron Atapattu returns to international motorsports this year. Campaigning the #24 eTea Racing Lamborghini in the IMSA, Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series, Ron will once again race the supercar marque in which he achieved international notoriety, campaigning a specially prepared Diablo SVR throughout Europe.

Ron uses racing as a platform to raise awareness of the current plight of the native elephant population in Sri Lanka. His company, elephantea.com produces 100% organic Ceylan tea, grown in Sri Lanka’s Golden Valley and renowned for its perfect climate for growing the finest tea in the world. A percentage of all sales from elephantea goes to support conservation programs for the wild roaming elephants of Sri Lanka as well as other philanthropic endeavors.

When crew member and Vietnam veteran, Tom Herring was presented a Quilt of Valor at the inaugural race at Barber Motorsports Park in April, Ron was impressed and moved by the Foundation’s mission and proudly sports the Foundation’s logo on the car during the nationally televised races.

“I’m excited to get back to racing, especially in a Lamborghini, which has always had a special place in my heart,” said Atapattu, of Miami, Fla. “The new Super Trofeo Evo is a powerful and fun car and it’s going to be a thrilling season in the very competitive IMSA Super Trofeo series this year.”

When I witnessed, Tom being presented with a quilt and learned of the program, I am proud to display the Quilts of Valor Foundation logo on the car and help expand awareness of this great organization. It’s a well deserved honor for all of our Vietnam Veterans. “
