Watkins Glen, New York (Saturday, June 29, 2019) – US RaceTronics drivers captured two more wins for the Southern California based team with Ockey and Eidson bringing home a fifth-place overall as they won the ProAm class in the No. 09 Lamborghini of Vancouver. Meanwhile Steven Aghakhani got his second win of the weekend in AM class behind the wheel of the No. 6 Lamborghini of Beverly Hills. Aghakhani finished sixth overall one spot in front of the No. 34 Lamborghini of Beverly Hills driven by pro drivers Bryce Miller and Patrick Liddy. Ron Atapattu had a great race in the No. 24 Elephantea Lamborghini of San Diego, posting his best result of the season in today’s race.

Coming off a second-place finish yesterday, Ockey started the race 11th overall and third in class. He quickly moved the No. 09 Huracan up two spots overall and up to second in class, which is where he was running when he turned the car over to Eidson. The exchange went exactly as planned and Eidson put down times quick enough to move the pair into first- place. Both drivers drove strong, consistent stints and were able to extend their points lead in ProAm heading

to the next two rounds at Road America. Aghakhani had an eventful second race of the season today in his effort to sweep the AM class in his LST debut weekend. The young driver started seventh overall and second in class before making contact with the No. 69 of Paul Tracy in the early laps of the race and dropping the No. 6 back to 14th overall and fourth in class. Aghakhani recovered quickly and started battling his way back through the field. Using a late pit strategy, he was able to come out of the mandatory pit stop leading the AM category. Consistently fast lap times in the second half of the race sealed Aghakhani’s sweep for his first weekend in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America championship and has him excited and already thinking about Road America.

Bryce Miller and Patrick Liddy had another tough race today, but brought the No. 34 Lamborghini of Beverly Hills home seventh overall giving USRT three cars in the top-10. Miller started eight overall and drove a hard stint moving up through the field. He turned the car over to Liddy from fifth-place, but a mistake in the pits and a tire issue ultimately cost the duo two spots. The pair are ready to put this weekend behind them and focus their energies on having a much better performance at Road America. Ron Atapattu had his best finish of the season, bringing the Elephantea car home fourth in class.

After a rough day yesterday, the LB Cup driver put in a great performance today. He fought hard and stayed competitive throughout the race, just barely missing his first podium of the season.

Damon Ockey – “The race today was great! It was pretty uneventful. Started P3 and stayed with the main field. Had a full-course caution which tightened us back up again. When I came into the pits we were all pretty tight still so Jacob came out and had basically a real easy drive and just had to be consistent to come in P1 in class. It was really good.”

Jacob Eidson – “Yeah, great race! On my side it was a little uneventful, but those are my favorite kind of races. When they’re not super exciting it makes my job easier. Damon did a great job too. We both did our part and we didn’t have any drama. Obviously, I’ve got to thank the team for giving us another great car. This is exactly how we want a race to go… where everything comes together. I’m really, really happy.”

Steven Aghakhani – “The race went well. At the start we had a little issue with one of the other drivers, but it is what it is… racing is racing. Super happy to pull off another first-place finish today. Excited to hopefully come back stronger than ever; especially after this race. I definitely learned a lot and I’m just happy to finally be here. I want to thank my sponsors for all their support. I’m looking forward to Road America and seeing what we can do there.”

Bryce Miller – “Another tough race and a tough ending to a tough weekend. I made what felt like a pretty good start and managed to drive the car from P8 to P6 during my stint. I felt like I had just enough pace to keep the guys in front of me honest and to hand over the car to Patrick so he could take the fight to them in the second half. Unfortunately, an error in the pits cost us some track position and then we had our left rear tire begin to
leak which left Patrick without a fighting chance. Tough weekend that we are ready to forget. On to Road America!”

Patrick Liddy – “Tough race. We struggled with some vibration in the front end and another tire issue, but worked through it and kept it clean and brought it home. Hoping for a better result at Road America.”

Ron Atapattu – “It was a good race. We had a lot of fights from start to finish. Towards the end, the last ten minutes of the race or so, the rear of my car was loose as the tires were wearing. Talking with all the guys it seems everybody had the same issue. So, I had to be a little more cautious about corners, but overall the car ran very well. I wish I was able to pass one or two more and get on the podium, but it was a good race and we were contending for a podium finish. The car is hot and all throughout it was a constant battle in today’s race, but I’m really looking forward to the next one.”

Josh Harris (Team Manager) – “We had a great race weekend at Watkins Glen. LB Cup driver Ron Atapattu (No.24) continued to improve over the weekend. He had some contact in Race 1, which hurt his final result and in Race 2 he managed his race to a 4th place in class. Liddy and Miller in the No. 34 struggled with tires over the weekend. Race 1 Miller had a tire puncture late in the race, causing a spin, and failed to finish. Race 2
Liddy started getting a puncture late in the race but was able to manage the puncture to finish P7. Aghakhani in the No. 6 had impressive pace all weekend. He came to his debut weekend ready to race and delivered with AM wins both days. Ockey and Eidson also had a great weekend and were able to extend their ProAm points lead, so we’re really happy with that. Everyone on the team did a great job and I’m proud of their efforts.”

The success of 2015 reignited Seneviratne’s passion for racing and he relaunched US RaceTronics to compete in the 2016 LBSTNA Series where Damon Ockey won the Amateur Championship and the team’s Pro-Am driver Brian Thienes finished third in points. Success continued in 2017 with drivers Edoardo Piscopo and Taylor Proto winning both the North American and World Championships in the Pro-Am class. 2018 saw the team win the North American LB Cup Championship along with second-place finishes in the PRO and AM Championships.
